‘…A church, full bleak, and weather beaten, all alone, as it were forsaken…’
*
“St Michael de Rupe?”
“St Michael the Rock.”
“I thought St Peter was supposed to be the ‘Rock’?”
*
*
“The rock referred to here, is volcanic.”
“Nice.”
*
*
“Though you would never know it now…”
*
*
“…The church-tower can still serve as a beacon.”
*
*
“Curioser and curioser…”
“Wait till we get inside, Alice.”

It is not always the impressive and the famous who are our best inspirations and the ones who bring the deepest and most meaningful messages of hope. It is the little unseen and perhaps almost unknown ruins or the monuments that stand in the most troublesome of times. They are the most important because despite the perhaps lack of obvious care for their well-being, they still stand steady to show us that what remains through time is not necessarily what people are looking for. It is what has stood on its own to help us remember that this world was born perhaps from the tiniest grain of sand, and that mankind too was born of such a tiny and precious seed as it were. We must not always focus on that which is magnificent and beautiful, but to look at those things which, despite any obvious care, still stand as reminders of possibilities for all of us. Thank you one and all for the wonderful posts that bring so much hope and wonder.
